>> Xi'an
Xi'an, famous for its terracotta warriors, is also a big modern city, one of the largest in China. The streets are wide open, and pedestrian bridges like this one make getting around on foot very easy.
Wendy did a lot of shopping here, and made a lot of new friends. This store sold hair accessories. There is a modern museum on the main grounds of the Terracotta Warriors site, housing some of the artifacts.
The warriors were discovered in 1974 by a group of peasents digging for water. Emperor Qin Shihuang built this underground empire in 221 BC. The first vault houses some 6000 warriors. Incredible.
