3 hours outside of Hanoi is Halong Bay. We went for a day trip.

We visited the Thien Cung (Celestial Palace) grotto. Although we only went for a day trip, a lot of people go for several days on these boats. It would have indeed been nice to have more time on the boat. The water was warm and wonderful. We're not so sure about the snorkeling, though, as we could barely see our own feet.
