>> San Jose
Like every other visitor to Costa Rica, we started out in San Jose. (Do you know the way?) We took this picture just outside of the Museo Nacional close to our hotel.
We took a day trip and visited the Rain Forest Tram in Braulio Carrillo National Park. This is a modified ski lift that takes you 2.6 km through the forest, so you can see the different levels of the canopy.
We arrived first thing in the morning, when it was cool, and we were the only ones in the park. We saw a toucan, but it was too far away to get a good photo.
There is also a hiking path around the center, where we saw this "walking tree". As the tree sends out new roots to find water, the old roots die. In the end, the tree actually moves.
Back in San Jose, we went for a walk along Av. Central, the main shopping street. American chains are everywhere.
This sign says "A natural paradise, with a brilliant future, with harmony and peace, nobility and might and with the best of strengths, be a proud Costa Rican!"
This is a building in the Parque Morazan.
On our way out of Costa Rica, we went shopping in Sarchi. Here is a church in the main plaza.
