We headed to La Rochelle for a weekend. This is the bridge that led us to the Ile de Re. On the Ile de Re, we headed to the "Reserve Naturelle de Lileau des Niges", which is supposedly a stopping-off point for thousands of migratory birds. "Dechetterie" means 'Recycling Center'. We saw lots of seagulls, and got this nice shot of the next arriving thunderstorm. Back in La Rochelle. This clock tower dates from the 14th century. The Tour St-Nicholas and the Tour de la Chaine are also 14th century. When hostile ships approached, guards used to link a chain to the towers, barring the way to the harbour. On the way home we headed through Vannes. That's the Cathedral St-Pierre between the two half-timbered houses. The walls surrounding the city.
