We flew from Athens to Crete and visited Knossos. It was a complete waste of time. We should have heeded our Guidebook's advice when it described Knossos as "a Disney-esque Minoanland". Arthur Evans excavated the site, and used a great deal of his imagination in doing so. This is a picture of the Royal Road, supposedly Europe's first road.
