The beach on Aitutaki is breathtaking. Well, it would have been if we'd had any sun. We stayed at Matriki Huts, a very, very basic accomodation directly on the beach. Every hotel on the island was full of the production crew of Survivor: Cook Islands.

Looking the other way on the beach. The weather alternated between raining, and really cloudy. The ocean floor is littered with sea cucumbers. Walking without stepping on them was almost impossible! Hermit crab. Sunset on Aitutaki. The beach in front of Matriki Huts. Beautiful except for all the sea cucumbers. Looking the other way in front of Matriki Huts. In front is his sailboat/outrigger thing you can borrow, but it looked far too complicated for us. The sun! The sun! This was the most we saw of it for our 4 days on Aitutaki. This is the beach just outside our 'hotel', Matriki Huts. Even though every hotel was full, the beach was empty, since all the hotel's guests were working for the Survivor production. The other hut at Matriki Huts. Matriki Huts, this is our hut. Inside our hut at Matriki Huts. Kitchen at Matriki Huts Matriki Huts, the outside of our hut.
