>> Rano Raraku, or the Nursery
We rented a jeep for the day, and headed to Rano Raraku, the nursery. This is the volcano from which all the moai were carved.
This is looking towards Ahu Tongariki.
Moai Tukuturi is the only kneeling moai. It is believed it might be a woman.

This is the biggest moai, but not cut out of the rock yet. He is 21m tall.
Looking at the lake in the crater in the middle of the volcano.
Within the crater, you can see about 20 standing moai and a number of fallen ones.
