>> Lagoon Cruise with Maohi Nui
The most beautiful lagoon we have ever seen.
We stopped for a swim in a very shallow, sandy spot of the lagoon.
Mount Otemanu, Bora Bora
We stopped for lunch while we dangled our legs in the water. The BBQ was very good, and the weather was finally cooperating!
Demonstration of how they make the thatched roofs for the hotels out of pandanus.
A good Polynesian party.
Our guide / boat driver for the day. We really liked his cell phone holder/case attached to his traditional clothes. Naturally, he only wears them for the tourists.
After lunch, we walked to the other side of the motu.
We stopped to feed and swim with stingrays. They are wild, free to come and go as they please in the lagoon, but stay in one place to get fed by the streams of tourists. They (promised us they) are not dangerous at all and are very, very playful.
A sting ray climbing up Ian. You can see the guide on the left with the fish, explaining how to hold them out to feed the rays.
We went on a day-long lagoon cruise, organised by Club Med. The company was called Maohi Nui. You can see the boats with outriggers on either side of the pier.
