Sintra was one of the most interesting places we visited in Portugal. It is home to three different castles. The Palacio Nacional da Pena was built in the 1840s by a Bavarian prince, and really looks like a Disney creation. He was apparently homesick, and managed to mix Portuguese and German styles.
