Sufetula, Tunisia

On the way to Sbeitla, we saw some tent-dwellers from the bus.

The only reason to visit Sbeitla is to visit the ancient town of Sufetula, with it's well-preserved Roman temples.  We arrived to see the roman ruins of Sbeitla  (Sufetula). This was unfortunately the only sunny shot we got.  This is looking toward the forum, with the Temple of Minerva, Temple of Jupiter, and Temple of Juno.
It is thought that the temples were built in the 2nd century.  Surrounding fields were excellent for growing olives.  This is the Temple of Jupiter.

Underground heating.  Too bad Tunisia lost that technology somewhere along the way.
