Wadi Shab was a highlight of our visit to Oman. It's a beautiful canyon with a river running through the middle, with palms everywhere. We went for a very nice hike.

We took a day trip to Wadi Shab. This was taken on the road on the way there. On the way to Wadi Shab. Oman's countryside is beautiful. Quriyat Fort We stopped at Quriyat, a fishing village an hour east of Muscat. The road out to Wadi Shab is pretty rough, but in 2008 they are scheduled to open up a new highway which you can see in this picture. Looking towards the sea from the dirt road we were on. We stopped at the Bimmah Sinkhole, a 40m x 20m sinkhole right next to the sea. They have made a nice park out of the sinkhole, complete with change rooms. At the end of the hike, we had the option to go on and swim the final bit into a cave. On the way back, we stopped for lunch overlooking the sea.
