>> Seville (Sevilla)
We arrived in Seville in pouring rain. Unfortunately, it never stopped while we were there.
This is the bullring, Plaza de Toros De La Real Maestranza.
This is the Torre del Oro (Tower of Gold). It was built in 1200, and was once covered in a glaze of golden tile.
This was the door into our hotel room. It was built in 1200 too.
The cathedral in Seville is the third largest in the world. It's the world's biggest gothic building ever constructed.
According to our Let's Go, the crusaders wanted to build a church so enormous that "those who come after us will take us for madmen."
This altarpiece is on the largest in the world. There is 36 biblical scenes depicted in gold.
This is the garden outside the cathedral. The garden, along with the minaret, is all that remains of the mosque that once stood on this spot. It was used for washing before prayer.
This is La Giralda, the minaret from the old mosque, built in 1198.
This is a door at the exit of the garden.
We visited the Alcazar. The Moors built this fortress and residences in the seventh century. It was later embellished by the Christians in the thirteenth century. The King and Queen of Spain now stay here during their visits to Seville.=
It was pouring rain, so we didn't feel like a wander through the gardens. There was, however, this walkway which gave us great (sheltered) views.
