wow! Have just discovered your site. Thanks for doing the hard yards for me.I’ll sit back and enjoy the world from my lounge room in australia.

Hi ,
I just found your fascinating website. Do you travel and blog as an occupation? If so, how did it come about? What criteria does one need to be able to do so? If it is your hobby, how do you manage it? Quite curious, Sincerely, M. Read
Hello! Thank you for your kind comments. Our travels and blog/website are hobbies, not our full-time job – but it would be wonderful if one day they were! Ian is in software – so he does have a background in computers. I just love to travel and take pictures! It does take a lot of work and believe me the list of to-do items for the website/blog just gets longer and longer!
We actually have been to Holland – we went to Amsterdam, Delft, and The Hague. It was one of our first trips, and we just don’t have the photos up yet. Stay tuned!
No it’s not our occupation – we just love traveling! We’re lucky enough to have jobs that let us take time off to travel. How do we manage it? We buy airplane tickets and go!
Hello! I found your site through Wikipedia. You’d placed some photos there.
(With that, I hope you do not mind use of your photos.) I am doing research on various images in Egypt, and found your site helpful.
I just want to ask that do you think Tunisia, morocco, Egypt are worth visiting places? because i am planing to visit these countries in near future. but if u think that you could suggest better than these places i would be more than thankful. please note that places you recommend should be cheep to visit.
i have visited Thailand, Malaysia, India, U.A.E, Kenya, Sirilanka so far.
hi…just looking about for pics of chaoyang theater and came across your site. i am from texas, but currently living in singapore. it’s so awesome that you guys get to travel so much. we are trying to do our share as well. best wishes to you both!

Trip Advisor has really good feedback and reviews directly from travelers. Tunisia is a really interesting place to visit, and at a good prices, but watch out for the ridiculously aggressive vendors at the marketplace, even leaving the hotel, the waiters coming off a work shift might offer to show you where an atm is and you wind up at the cousin’s shop in the same situation. We went to Tunisia for a little over a week, while we were there a group at our hotel were filming in Tatooine, wish we had gotten out to see that town as well. Haven’t heard good things about Egypt (run down, shot up, dirty). Wherethehellismatt.com has great travel info including costs and photos (he literally has been everywhere). If you are looking to really travel on the cheap http://www.couchsurfing.com is a good website to check out.
Wow! you guys are bonafida adventureres! My wife and I (www.omhome) are planning a trip to Morocco. We only have about two weeks and want to drive from Marrakesh, through Ouerzazate, Todra Gorge, Merzouga, ???, and Fez. What do you think? Can we do this in about 5-6 days, and still have enough time for Marrakesh, Fez, and Essouaira? Is it safe? Are gas stations available everywhere? I know I may be inconveiencing you with all these questions, but we are so excited about trying this adventure, but are a little nervous. Thanks for you help!
We took the train from Fez to Meknes – comfortable and
very cheap. Other than that we took taxis everywhere
(or walked).
There are petits taxis that are regular city taxis and
then the grands taxis that run between cities.
They’ll shove 6 people in them but you can always pay
for the remaining seats if you want to leave faster.
We rarely drive when traveling. We’d rather not deal
with the possibility of getting lost, breaking down,
or worse, having an accident in a country where we
don’t speak the language and don’t know the laws.
(Although, we see you’re from Montreal, so French is
going to come in handy – we found men, in particular
educated men or older men, speak French. Also, young
people).
We never made it to Chefchaouen, unfortunately, but we
did run into 2 fellow Canucks from Montreal that had
been and loved it. You’ll have to let us know how it
is.
Don’t worry about inconveniencing us! That sounds like a great itinerary, and definitely doable in the amount of time you said. If you have time, Meknes and the Roman ruins nearby at Volubilis would also be a great addition to your trip. We felt very safe when we were there. Are you sure you want to drive? We never saw a single street sign – although it’s been 7 years since we were there. There was a lot of very remote spots we went to – through the Atlas mountains, in the dunes, etc. We certainly wouldn’t have wanted to break down in our own car. Taking the “Grand Taxi”s around worked well for us, and were very cheap, after some very necessary hard bargaining! One taxi ride went from $2000 to $60 for us!
Happy Travels and let us know if you have any other questions,
I made my second video in You Tube with the base of my version of SAILING (original from Cirstopher Cross). Made a wide looking for images to make something natural and mainly from sailers experience as individuals. I finally choose one of your photos to fit in one of my singing of the song. As it was my first experience, I dind’t make a record of all the sources I download the images, and now I am try using more or less the same words I remember to reach the ones I choose photos from. You are the first. For sure many sailors are going to be lost.
I hope you like to be on this song and video. That’s why I want you to share with you, to bring you a good news and a happy moment.
Let me explain you that I am just and “street arist” have no records, no record companny, no nothing but only myself. So this is no a comercial made video. And I am sure you will see is made with a lot of love, but from the joy of just one person.
If you feel happy with this work and want to share with your friends, please do it so. The idea is to share good ideas. If you have any inconvenient with been in the video, more far that it is just with friends and cultural purposse. Tell me and give some time to select other image to change yours, and make the change. But I do beleive you will be happy to see yourself on it.
Thanks for everything

It was really wonderful to come across your Playa Blanca trip. I really loved that place when visiting in 1994 shortly after becoming divorced. Not a bad way to come back, no? Gorgeous place, and how sad that it no longer exists. Perhaps we all had an experience not likely to be replicated. Thank you again for a nice memory.
Hi – We are currently travelling through China – we are in Beijing at the moment about to head to Xian, Chongquing, Yichang and Guilin etc. on a similar route to you.
We really enjoyed reading about your Chinese adventure – very helpful too as we are about to book our own rusty boat down the 3 gorges. We too have been promised luxury first class cabines but are unsure how this will pan out! We had a nightmare getting the soft sleeper from Beijing to Xian and had lots of promises but no one has yet been able to get us tickets from Xian to Chongquing….the message seems to be “very busy very busy.” Anyhow we will make sure after reading your blog that we take plenty of drinking water and refrain from washing or perhaps we’ll stock up on the wet wipes instead!!
We have just come from tropical Thailand and Cambodia and arrived to a typhoon in Hong kong and torrential rain on our visit to the great “wet” wall of china…that was after we were forced to visit a ming vase “factory” and Jade “factory”…(read tourist trap.) No one tells you this of course until you are stuck there with several other unwilling participants. We were gone for 10.5 hours of which only 1 was actually at the Great Wall. But we met alot of good fun fellow trapped travellers so all in all we enjoyed it.
Many thanks for your helpful tips!
Best wishes Jennie and Matt.
Yeah, we got stuck trying to get to the Great Wall as well – I think we got slightly luckier than you, we got about an hour and a half at the wall for an 8 hour trip. Our experience was that if you feel you are getting hassled, don’t be shy about making a fuss – they’ll back down very quickly.
Good luck on the boat – we met some very interesting people, and the scenery was amazing.
Let us know if you want to exchange links, and good luck on your round the world trip – we’re very jealous!
This is a nice ‘diary’ of both of you traveling together. Its a pleasure to know you two.
My name is Qamarul and I’m from Brunei, one of the places you have visited in Asia. I came to know your web through wiki: the video of Brunei and its capital. When I read your experience in my country, I laughed a lot. I just hope you did have an enjoyable stay with us. I’m sorry that the transportation system in Brunei is not all that great. We(Bruneians) should really improve the transport system mainly for tourists.
Jerudong Park was once packed with people as you have heard. We made a mistake from the very beginning to set it free of charge. I don’t know when it would be ‘alive’ again. One day hopefully.
Regarding the mosque, if you had come on days besides Friday, if would have been fine. This is because Friday is the day where all mosques around the world will have mass prayer.
Ian, Wendy, its an honor to know that you two who traveled about 50 countries across the world include us in your list. I wish you all the very best and don’t forget Brunei ya
Thanks for taking the time to write to us! We did have a great time in Brunei, people really treated us well and were happy to see us. Jerudong Park was a lot of fun – it’s sad to see that it’s been dismantled, hopefully one day they will rebuild it.
We understand why the mosque was closed – we just didn’t time our visit very well.
Please don’t apologize for your public transportation system – we live in the US now and you should see how bad it is here!
We had a 50ft sailboat on the key in Papeete for 4 months in 1973. The skyline looks the same…buildings and Morea that is, boardwalk looks much more commercial.
I was searching for picture of ChongQing, China, and came across your website.
I browse through your photo from China trip. You guys got great collection. I wish you had more from ChongQing though. I have traveled to China many time before, but never been to ChongQing and the three Gorge or YangZtse river tour.
I wonder what’s your experience was like there.
I really love your pictures, you must be a good photographer. My canon powershot doesn’t seem to be able to completely get that kind of beautiful scenery wide angle view. Because of your great pictures, I’m thinking of getting a new camera. Any advice? What kind of camera and lenses did you use for those scenery shot of the mountain, the river, in China.
Thanks very much for sharing your trips and your pictures online.
Hello! you’ve guys seen so much….but…why haven’t you visited russia? my country has lots of things to offer. your site is great, thank you for sharing your travelling experience with us!
alexandra (moscow)
Thanks for writing to us! We’d love to visit Russia some day – in particular, we’re excited about travelling across the country on the Trans Mongolian.
hi ian and wendy…today is the first time i visited your site….i was searching for kalahari pics…got the link from wiki….i found your site really interesting….i always wanted to visit africa…now after seeing your pics i have decided i’ll do it at any cost…i’m basically from kerala-GOD’S OWN COUNTRY….you should visit kerala once…it’s a very beautiful place….
Dear Ian and Wendy,
I am so facinated with the photographs you have taken of the Middle East. I really want to go but as I am currently a college student funds are a bit tight. But hopefully one day that dream will come true! I am currently enrolled at The University of North Texas where I am an Arts Major. I have taken a watercolor class this semester and I will be taking another watercolor class this fall. I was wondering if I couls have your permission to paint some of the pictures you have posted on you site in watercolor. They are beautiful photos and I would be happy to send you digital pictures later this fall of my paintings. Thank you for your consideration.
Mary Bone – Warwick
We would be honored to have you use our photos and would love to see the final result. If you can let us know which ones you want to use in particular, we can send you a high quality version.
Mary Bone - Warwick replied on May 9th, 2008 5:41 am:
Dear Ian and Wendy,
Thank you so much for the conset to let me do watercolor paintings of your pictures. You really have no idea how much this means to me. As I mentioned earlier, I am a college student and do not have the funds to travel as I would wish to. Hopefully after graduation that will be different. I will be taking an intermediate watercolor class that will begin in September. So I imagine I will begin painting then. I would like to do some in the summer but I am also taking summer school…..It seems the life of an undergraduate is never over! I will definately keep in touch, and once I begin paintings and finish them I will of course send you the photographs of my paintings. Once again, thank you so much for this opportunity.

Hello, we’re interested in staying at St. Catherine’s Monastery by Mt. Sinai, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to actually make a contact or reservation. Can you point me to a website or email? Thanks for your wonderful photos and captions.
Hi,
Love your site! you have put a lot of yourselves and lots of time into it.
BTW you must visit Iguazu falls in Argentina/Brazil. It will complete your list of the worlds three great water falls. They are astonishing. I am sure that it will go on your list of favorites. Many other wonderful places in South America. We are just beginning our traverse of South America ourselves. We are headed next to Peru & Equador. we want to see Machu Pichu. We are not done yet with asia. Still want to see Burma & Bhutan & more of India. I like your travel style. You seem to get a good feel for wherever you go. (We have been in 53 countries, but can count only about 48 because of excessive short time in five of them)
We would love to visit Iguazu falls one day – we loved Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. We haven’t been to South America at all yet – apart from Easter Island, which doesn’t really count.
Well you must. The comparison between Victoria, Niagra, and Iguazu is definitely worth doing. And …. I refuse to name a favorite. Depends on I feel at the moment. Each has its unique quality. Each is Awe inspiring. Though we are just beginning South America, I am fascinated by your travels in the Middle East. That’s a part of the world I have yet to visit. Closest I’ve come is a week in Istanbul on a business trip, and, of course, the obligatory visit to Ephesus.

Hello,
I found your site as a google search result for mughal arcitecture. I come from the Mughal Family and I have been looking in to the mughal empire. I came across your website and you guys have some of the most amazing of the Mughal architecture. I have been to the Badshahi Masjid (emperor’s Mosque) in Lahore, Pakistan as a child. I don’t remember much from that experience and would love to go to India/Pakistan again to explore all the remaining mughal architecture. I would love to travel the world someday like you guys!
Thank you so much for the great experience!

Hi, I was online tonight confirming an e-mail about the Sultan of Brunei and your site came up. I live in Northern Ca. and enjoyed your pictures of Mt. Lassen/Shasta. When Coldplay played Sacramento a couple of years ago, their road crew photographed Mt.Shasta and posted it on Coldplay.com (cool). I’d like to e-mail you images for the concept of a web site idea I’m working on, for travelers. It will be “the world’s most reliable itinerary planner”. Please contact me at the e-mail I posted, Thank You! John.
Hi,
I am a british citizen, but I lived in Brunei for a two year period from 2000-02 and just had a few questions – when did you visit Brunei because I visited in August 2007 and there was hardly anything left of the theme park apart from some go-karts as two of the big roller coasters had been sold and shipped away obviously to raise cash after the losses they made.
Brunei sure does remain very close to my heart as I developed quite an attachment to the place and was very sorry to have to leave.
hope you enjoyed your time there, how long were you in Brunei??
Yeah, it’s too bad they dismantled all the rides – apparently they plan to re-build. We were only in Brunei for just a couple of days on our way out of Borneo.
Hey, i was looking up castles and found your site, you guys are awesome. I want to know what you guys do for jobs so i can travel as much as you. Rock On! Learned a lot. Thanks, Kate
This is a very nice web site, I like the idea. I think you should have visited Mount Nemrut in Turkey, which is a fabulous place with huge ancient statues up the hill. I would like to visit Singapore, Morocco, Dubai and China and I will definitely read your blogs before I go
Thank you for your kind words – we’re glad you’re enjoying our site! At the time we visted we were told that Mount Nemrut was in an area that wasn’t safe. We would LOVE to go back to Turkey and visit MANY other sites we didn’t have time for on our first visit. Turkey is one of our favourite countries.
Happy travels – Singapore, Morocco, Dubai and China are all fabulous!
I see, there was the operation in the north Iraq at the time you visited Turkey but it is over and I hope you can have the chance to visit those places you want to in your next visit.
Your site looks great. I am using SSP too but it’s interesting to see that you can create a preloader and GPS integration. Do u mind share with me how to do this? I’m much apprepiated if you can help thx.

Greetings from northwestern Alberta, Canada! Great shots from all over the world! A dream of mine is to do some of the travelling you two have done. I teach at a Bible College and would like your permission to use a few of your pictures for my Bible history class. In particular pictures of Masada and some from Ephesus that would help sutdents visualize some of the geography and architecture. Thanks for considering my request.

Hello!!
wonderful shots of Lyon. My 11 yr old son just arrived there with his 6th grade class. I noticed the picture of the electronics store and was wondering if there was a way to get in ipod charger to him. Would you recommend sending one through the apple website or through the store fnac, if they have it?
thanks

Hey guys!
WOW! I just read your “peripeties” in Egypt. I am an independent traveler and am planning a trip there December 08 with (perhaps) a couple of days in Istanbul at the beginning. I am now seriously considering joining a group for Egypt…which I hate doing because it is such a waste of time. I HATE stopping at all the giftshops where the tour guides get commissions. I have also traveled the world (and I am from FRANCE but have lived in the USA since 1979) and have never really had a bad experience in any of the countries I have visited. I wonder if Egypt is that much different than Mexico. I suppose it is. The only bad experience in Mexico was hotelclub.com who was SUPPOSED to make a reservation for my hotel forgot to do it. So I was kinda stuck in Mexico City at midnight on Good Friday but I am resourceful and didn’t waste time finding another hotel. I also didn’t waste time on my return to the USA complaining to hotelclub until the refunded me everything. Would you really suggest I go with an organised tour to Egypt?
Thanks!
Well, we really can’t agree. Ian says, “yes”, and I say, “no”. We really enjoyed the sites, there’s just a lot of hassle factor. Of course, if you choose to stay at nicer hotels you won’t find them doubling your rate on you, so that would take care of some of it. And maybe you have a thicker skin and don’t care so much if people scream at you all the time.
That said, I still would go by myself. I HATE being on a tour. We had a MUCH better time in Karnak when we went back on our own and we had no trouble in the Valley of the Kings, etc. on the West Bank. (Ok, so the taxi driver yelled at us at the end for only giving him what we’d agreed to pay…but it was always like that!)
No matter what you choose to do, definately go. It may not be relaxing, but Egypt has sites that will blow you away. It’s truly fabulous and worth the hassle.

hopefully see you in beijing!!
Hi! Great photos! I liked the ones from Easter Island, Israel and Iceland. There are more countries for you to photograph, so keep up the good work. You should visit the Philippines, you might be able to take good photographs there.
Hi. Very interesting photos who well describe the subjects and the history of any travel.Looking at the photos it’s easy to undrstand the whole situation. Good frames, also…
Bravi!
Your photos are fantastic! I am a Canadian teacher and would like to show my students your slide shows for our ancient civilizations unit. It is difficult to read the comments you have included, is there any way to see the slideshow in full screen mode?
The easiest way to that is to click on the “dial-up? click here” and then click on the slideshow you want to see. This will enable a “lo-tech” non-flash version where the captions are above every image.
Alternatively, if you want to see the slideshow in fullscreen mode, I have just recently enabled “Piclens” for our web site. Download piclens from http://www.piclens.com, then click on the arrow in the top right hand corner when you’re looking at a slideshow and you’ll get a cool “3d wall” of photos in full screen mode. I believe the captions may be cut off though, I’m not sure I can do anything about that.
Let us know if you still have trouble, and thanks for the comment.
Folks,
I also came across your site “accidently”, because I was looking up places I had just been to and seen myself and found it very interesting to see your pictures and videos, compared to the ones I took and the things we have both obviously seen, like Egypt and/or Turkey, where I just returned from. Personally I love ancient history and have seen a lot of that in your presentations as well as different cultures. You have mentioned Pompeii, but did you alos see Hercualneum or Agrigento and Syracuse in Sicily? Besides Ephesus, did you get a chance to go the the “House of Mary” and “St. John’s Basilica”? Pergamon?
Again, your publications are terrific and I truly loved each one of them.
Thanks for your kind words. No, we haven’t yet been to any of the other ruins you mentioned (except Pompeii), but we look forward to seeing them in the future.
That’s too bad, especially since all the ones I mentioned are close
to each other, or at least in pairs, only the west coast of Turkey
is full of historical stuff. If you have an interest in those
sites, which you seem to have if I am not mistaken, then be sure
to see them one day. I loved Pompeii, but was even more amazed by
Hercualneum, wich is closer to Naples and was destroyed by the
same eruption of mount Vesuvius, only one day after Pompeii.
Hey guys, thanks very much for posting this site and showing vids of brunei and Bandar seri begawan
i was born there (im scottish) but 20 yrs ago my parents were in the army there and i just so happened to be born there fun eh
but its really intresting seeing pictures and videos of it because i never seen it before i lived in england and scotland all my life, got taken over when i was 2 weeks old so i can hardly relate to it. but now i seen how it is and its really strange and intresting. thank you very much for sharing and would be happy if you replied to my email
looking forward to hearing from you and thanks once again !
Wow, talk about flashback. Spent 18 months in Israel back in the early 90’s.
Looking at your pictures and watching the videos really give’s me joyful flashbacks. Especially the walk through Damascus gate gives me the goosebumps.
Even though it’s more than 20 years since my last visit it feels like it was yesterday. Thanks for putting up the pics and vids.
If you ever think of visiting sweden, let me know and I’ll assist in any way possible.
I ended up on this site when I was searching for information about Mount Lassen and I was watching your videos and looking at your pics and slideshows. I love them.
I am a HUGE fan of northern California. I LOVE Mount Shasta and Mount Lassen too, plus I like to study volcanoes as well. Volcanoes are my love and my life.
I stumbled upon this website while working on homework, searching for vacation graphics. I’m already in love with how everything is set up here–its very inspirational. If I were as traveled as you have managed to be, I would likely try and make a similar website. But alas, I’m still in debt/college, so that will have to wait a while. But I won’t stop checking up on this site–keep it up!
hi wendy and ian ! i love this website ! me and my husband are young couples who loves to travel. aside from online travel agencies like expedia, is there anywhere else u’d recommend booking international trips?
and also, what camera do you useto take pictures? thanks !!
Thanks for your comment! We use a mix of cameras – but Wendy is currently shooting with a film Canon Rebel T2. I shoot with a digital Canon EOS Rebel XTi.
I am a Thai teacher. I teach English as a foreign language in a rural university in the norht-east part of Thailand. It is called Loei. I like all of your slide shows. I have been to Ankor Wat, Cambodia twice. I took the same picture of the blue house you took in the village on the way to Siamrep.
I told my syuidents to look at your website. If you ever come to this part of the world again, please visit the students and I at our school, English Dept. Fac. of the Humanities& So.Sc. Loei Rajabhat University, Loei province. Thailand.
Thank you the wonderful pictures you share.

It was wonderful looking at the slide show of Dubai. I am currently in Canada as an immigrant with my family. We lived in Dubai for 12 years. We miss Dubai so much. thank you for bringing back memories.
Congratulations on your website… its great!
I’m from Portugal. I noticed you’ve been there, but missed the most beautiful place in Portugal… Madeira Island! Maybe next time you’ll hope over… it’s really a small but beautiful island.
I’ve also been to Thailand and Turkey…both wonderful places with friendly people.
Keep on your travelling …and keep sending us the great photos!
My best regards,

Hi Ian and Wendy,
Thanks for posting your inspiring media on Wikipedia for the ruins of Petra, Jordan. I’ve traveled to many countries, but not to Jordan. Your visuals made me feel the valley’s presence. I’m happy to know that you’re living such a exploratory life and surely meeting some of the most interesting people! I hope you’re writing a memoir. Please check out my website for photos, too! Diane
Hi Ian and Wendy, your website has helped me no end. My daugher is currently touring Asia (China, Vietnam, Thailand and Malasia) and I have been worried sick but your website has helped put my fears to rest and to appreciate what wonderful things my daughter is seeing. She is currently in Guilin and off to Vietnam next. It’s a wonderful life you lead and I am glad that people out there in this world can get to travel it as you do. Many thanks from Tracy in London UK

Hello Ian and Wendy, I saw your picture of the Golden Sitting Buddha image, in Bangkok. The image is in the temple called Wat Tri-Mitr Wittayaram. Tri means three, Mitr means good friend. The story was told that this temple was built by three friends. They were merchants in the area.

First off – I love that you two have this great website!
I’m writing to know about the Volubilis. The organization I work for is going to Morocco in December and might go to the Volubilis. I was wondering if you know how much money (entrance fee, etc) we should set aside for that monument…
If you don’t remember, don’t worry! But I’d really appreciate any help!
Thank you for your website. I saw the pictures from Vietnam and Cambodia. Very, very nice pictures of Vietnam, my born country. I am living in Florida right now, and have not been back to see the old country so I am envious of you and your wife. Enjoy your future traveling. Good job.
I hope that you are both well. This website is so cool, I hope that I am as fortunate as you to go to so many places. What I really want to say is, it is absolutely fantastic that our Victoria Falls are so highly rated by yourselves. Having just come back from a trip to Canada, in which I saw the Niagara Falls, I have to agree with you. Don’t get me wrong the Niagara Falls are impressive, but, despite being a Zimbabwean, I still think that Victoria Falls are slightly better. Any advise on travelling, like go budget as much as possible, don’t go budget, enjoy every holiday, etc.? for an up coming world traveller. I look forward to your advise.
Great site you have, I wish I could make as many trips as you two do.
My latest trip was China, it was amazing. I took some very similar pics as yours.
Hello Ian and Wendy,
I live in the Netherlands, and i’m 16 years old. This website is the best! i’m quite into old civilisations (if I write that correctly), and you’ve been to the places i also really, really like to go to someday. Like the piramids and tombs, and the mayan cities! also seeing real wild tigers, while on the back of elephants… i can’t imagine how amazing that should be!
I hope you go to the Netherlands (better known as Holland) and get some nice pics there I live in the eastern part of the country, almost on the German border, and if you go to the Netherlands, i don’t think you’ll go there.
Happily, i’m still quite young, and i still have much time to travel around the world Although many places in Europe are also very nice, and i’ve been to many spots in italy, france, germany, switzerland ans austria. Strange as it seems, i haven’t been to many places in the Netherlands, i always go abroad when going on holiday!
and i know that you’ve been to the best places on the earth, Elba (an island on the western coast of italy) is also very beautiful and worthy to visit!
Keep going on traveling, and i’d like to hear something from you!
greets,
Jolien

Ian and Wendy, I love your blog, and I’m thrilled to find another traveling couple out there! My husband and I have been to many of the same places as you two, but we pine for Turkey, St. Lucia, Iceland, the Maldives…
I’d love for you to visit my travel blog for couples, Travels With Two http://www.travelswithtwo.com/. If you like what you see, would you consider a reciprocal link?
I appreciate your consideration, and feel lucky to have found your site!
Great to see a ‘real’ travel blog, especially one that includes a visit to my country Oman. Our tourism industry is still in it’s early days and certainly isnt as professional as the UAE, however, I hope the warmth of the people, the authenticity of the culture and the natural beauty of Oman made up for any shortcomings. Hope you have many more years of happy travelling and if you are ever in the region again, I would be delighted to show you the local’s perspective!
Hello! I went to egypt in January 2007 and on the day we visited Karnak I ran out of film…who still uses film right?…well your pictures of karnk mad me very happy I even recognized the smallest of detail and was able to remember some really funny lost kodak moments. Thank you.
I came across your website while looking up the Taj Mahal. My husband & I visited Agra in 2005. It was wonderful to see your pictures. It brought back a lot of great memories! Thank you so much for sharing.
nice website.. impressive, to say the least. i was wondering if you might be willing to share some info though.. what did you use to design the layout of the photos. i’d like to do something similar but i’m not sure how. any advice or insights would be appreciated.
Its really very good design and well maitained site. I seen somany pics of your visit for different countries. I am very much impressed. its likely to be a world photo tour.
Keep it up. and all the best for your next journey.

Hi Ian & Wendy
Wanted to thank you for your incredible pictures. Throughly enjoyed your website.
I am a desginer from Jordan. We will be linking you in a post we will have on our blog in the next few days about Amman. I came to know your work through an email I received about caves and that is where i saw your pictures for the first time. It inspired me so much that I wrote about it and googled you so that we can link you on our blog, hope you dont mind, but your pictures are captivating, and as a designer they inspire me as you can read here http://qerat.blogspot.com/2008/09/nature-greatest-artist.html
Hi Ian & Wendy,
I found your website while searching for Namibia and Botswana photos. We are planning a tour with GAP adventures in July 2009 covering these two countries along with SA and Zambia and we found your photo and video documenting so helpful.
We have placed a link to your world travels web pages on l810th.com. Thank you for sharing your travels with us. Best wishes for your future travels and may they be as plentiful!
M&J Ireland.
Hi,
I enjoyed reading through you website, especially the info about Botswana and the Okavango Delta.
I’m a professional travel & wildlife photographer, I’ve so far visited 79 countries, my favorites being Antarctica, The Galapagos islands and Tibet.
As a confirmed ‘travelaholic’ I’m always interested to see and hear about travel related subjects, so your site has now been bookmarked for future reference. (the links are very useful).
The Botswana info is of great interest as I’m spending a month on a photographic shoot in the Okavango Delta and Chobe NP, before going through the Caprivi Strip into Namibia to visit Etosha NP, the Skeleton Coast, the Namib Desert and Damaraland. This trip is in May/June 09.
Thank you for having such an inspirational web-site. At ASU here we are currently preparing for our study trip abroad and I will use your pics as a nice study tool. Thank you

Can I just make a small correction to the ‘Wailing Wall’ HaKotel. You wrote that Jews fill the area on Friday night and the beginning of the Sabbath, they are one and the same thing, as the Jewish day runs from Sunset to sunset, except the Sabbath and festivals, where we try and make them longer, so they run from sunset to nightfall the following day (+/-25hours instead of 24 outside the tropics). So I would assume you meant that Jews fill the area on Friday night and Saturday morning? But you have truly done justice to the places you’ve travelled with EXCELLENT pictures. May you have many many many safe and enjoyable travels in your life.
Ian i so love watching you and your travels i admire you for getting out there and enjoying such wonderful things life has to offer. I can only imagine it and live my dreams threw watching you. THANK you so much your friend in australia x
Hello and thank you for your nice website. J aimerai m adresser en francais. Quand est ce que vous allez visiter ma ville natale, la ville de Skopje qui se trouve en Macedoine(europe) euh.. trop de precisions.
Bye bye

Hi Ian and Wendy,
My name is Nancy and my mom and I are going to Egypt this December through January for 2 weeks. The thing is, we still haven’t booked a tour and the main reason for that is that all of the tour companies we’ve come across require 50% wire transfer of the entire tour package costs before they proceed with the booking. I’ve traveled to a few countries but I’ve never heard of such a policy. Could you please speak to the legitimacy of this and to which company you used for your travels to Egypt (you mentioned Noga Tours but there are several such tour companies in Egypt that pop up under a web search for this name)–is there a phone number and contact person you could refer me to?
Thanks for the comment. Some companies insist on wire transfers, and some will insist on picking you up the airport. Salah Muhammad can be reached from his website, http://first24hours.com/contactus.aspx
Do NOT USE HAMIS TRAVEL. They ripped us off.
There are also Western-based tour companies. For recent recommendations, I would suggest picking up a recent Lonely Planet or Frommer’s or Let’s Go. Of course, they steered us towards Hamis, so who knows.
Found your pix of Easter Island…WOW…thanks so much for sharing them. How lucky the two of you are to be able to travel the world and you are wonderful to share your experiences with others. Thanks again, Jan. California/USA
I love your pictures from your Botswana safari! I’ve always wanted to go on a safari.. the closest I’ve come is riding a camel across the Sahara. Beautiful photography, and great website.
Very good site. Very interresting.
But something is missing for me. I would like to find the exact date of all your travels, because we don’t know when we’ve been to these countries.
I came across your site in my search for a place to stay in St Martin/St Maarten. Really enjoyed your web site. I’m most impressed with the number of countries/teritories that you have visited. I added them up, my husband and I have been to the same number of places as you, though only about half of the places we visited overlap with yours. We have been to all 7 continents, hope you’ll make it to Australia and Antarctica soon. We certain hope to visit all those places you’ve been but we haven’t.
I read a few good reviews about the Fantastic Guest House but still was uncertain. With your travel experience, I feel rather assured of the place.
You can visit our site at http://www.karoesler.com. It’s not as organized as yours and it doesn’t have all the places we visited. My husband does most of the maintenance of our site. Perhaps I’ll be able to convince him to re-organize after visiting your site.
I came across your Club Med album and loved it lots. I think I’m going to Bora the coming summer. My debut CM experience was Ishigaki Japan and thought it was awesome. Thanks for your pictures and good luck to future travels!
I really enjoyed visiting your site and the pictures are great!! Have you ever thought of visitng Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon)? It is an amazing country with plenty of tourist attractions.
Regards,
Fred Heynsbergh

Hi, this is Kevin. I’m the guy sit left behind of you in the flight from San Fransico to Shanghai. I had browsed some of your pictures. So jealous of you have traveled so many countries. Hope to see your updated pictures. Hope we can keep in tough in future.
Wow…is all i can really say. I found your site when doing a search for the Wailing Wall. It is great, and i hope to someday travel as you have done. Keep up the great work.
Hi, I discovered your site wile surfing the wikipedia for info about Granada and the Alhambra in particular. Must say I’m impressed (read: jealous..). We just started travelling and up till now we went to most of the countries in Europe, Canada, USA, Australia and Africa but we are planning to keep on travelling much more. I’m enjoying your site very much!
wow…
I stumbled across your site looking for information on St. Catherine’s Monastery in Egypt
Your pictures gave me some great insight – I almost felt as if I were there …or as if a friend were telling me all about their travels.
Your website is very well done! Although I did not explore much past the monastery, I think I’ll be back
Best of wishes on your incredible travels together-
around the world and in each other’s arms.
What a lovely website! 1st time I’ve seen it. Beautifully put together, great content, You’d badly embarrass a lot of professional web designers . Great fun. Keep it up
Hi,
I spent almost 2 hours in your website and really became jealous of the places you have been to..i guess i just came to your website through a link when i was searching for petra….
hope i will have the opportunity to do a safari in africa..
not to forget, i am happy that you have Turkey in your favourites.:)
Hakan
Wow, what an amazing site. I just discovered your site whilst doing a bit of research into my heritage and you have been to places that I have not been to myself in the carribean. Wonderful site.lots of very interesting sites. I found your videos very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
I was very inspired by your site! Ultimately, I hope to be able to travel with someone I love rather than solo! Im currently in Korea and am considering to stay at one of the motels you suggested in Busan. I have stayed at Queens Motel which isnt very close to the popular areas; however, I would like to find a motel close enough to the airport since I am flying out the next morning. Do you remember how close these motels were by taxi to the Busan airport? I wish you a beautiful holiday season! Kaia
Nice site, also you have a great photo of the step pyramid. I’m trying to create a small reading room and I have always been interested in ancient Egypt. I was wondering do you have a high resolution file of this image so I can print one and display it in my new room?
Hey you guys! Great to meet you both in Hawaii and be part of your adventures. I hope you found some good food! Keep in touch and Happy New Year!

Love your site! What do you use to build it? I love the map and while our travels are not as extensive I would love to share them with family in a similar format. Thanks!
Hey guys. Stumbled on your site while looking up the Chichen Itza on Wikipedia. I was recently there myself, as well as Tulum and few other towns around the Riveria Maya and Cancun. Cool site– nice layout, great pictures and of course, great content. I’m very envious of all your adventures–perhaps some day I’ll have the means to visit as many places as you guys have. Until then, I suppose virtually exploring isn’t so bad.
And for a suggestion: as someone else mentioned, having the dates included for your trips would be helpful–it would provide a bit of frame of reference, so that we could know if the stuff you guys saw and experienced is still around!
Anyway, I’m sure I’ll be back here when I’m planning my own trips and such. Awesome site, thanks for all the work you’ve put into it and I hope you keep enjoying life as it was meant to be enjoyed.
Wow – you two have seen alot of wonderful things. Thanks for posting your pictures online. My husband and I are missionaries although our feet have only touched France and England, we will be in Africa and Europe, your pictures were inspring.
Good travels to you both!
P.S. What do you do for a living that enables so much travelling?
Thanks! We get asked this a lot. No, we’re not independently wealthy! We both have normal jobs that thankfully allow us to take the vacation time – which is the big thing that you need to travel a lot. There are LOTS of ways to make travel cheaper than most people think! It’s also our priority – so it come first over buying something else, or going to the movies, etc.
Acabo de descubrir vuestra web y me ha encantado. Creo que me ayudará para preparar mis propios viajes en el futuro. Os felicito por vuestro trabajo y os animo a continuar compartiendo vuestras expriencias.
Un saludo desde Barcelona
I found your website while searching info about Noga Tours, part of your Egypt trip looks like the one I will be doing with Noga Tours in Feb, but I had some reservation at the way it is booked. We were asked to give money on arrival , in cash. And found it quite odd.
Did you take part of your Cairo/Nile cruise visit with Noga Tours?
if not , thanks all the same, looking at your pictures made me want this trip even more.
Egypt travel companies are kind of funny. I guess it’s because they trust travelers so little (and likewise, you should trust them so little, although Noga was ok for us). On arrival, they insisted on picking us up and driving us to the hotel – I guess to make sure they had their teeth into us. ANyways, with Noga, we just toured Saqqara and the Step pyramid, outside Cairo. We went with another company (Hamis) to go down the Nile, and it was a horrible experience. On our Nile trip, we had to go to the office in Cairo ahead of time and pay for the whole trip, whereupon we got vouchers for the trip itself, such as it was. I believe we might have paid something upfront as well, I forget.
Congrats for your beautifully designed site. I myself love travelling, but iam far from your “countries account”. I am portuguese and pleased you’ve been in my country. Haven’t seen all your Portugal pictures (been looking for Tunisia when i found your site…) but seems that you didn’t get the good weather the country deserves to be seen. Clear blue spring Lisbon sky is something unexplanable… keep on traveling, that’s the best thing in life… diferent countries, diferent cultures… once again congrats on the site, that i will check with more attention…
It is a very beautiful website and a handsome amount of effort has been put on it. Wish you every success in your future trips. I am following your footprints and I visit some countries already. They are some places in my country which I didn’t go to so I will start with those and I shall be in Canada by summer.
guys, you went to Europe but didnt go to Germany….you missed the best thing. Come to the country where the people know how to make the best beer in the world !
cheers

Hi, Ian
I just saw your pictures taken in Korea. The architecture style in Changdeokgung Palace were all learn from ancient China, even the Chinese words. Can you still remember me?
chanced about your website.
saw the lovely pictures of turkey and egypt.
i too love these 2 places.
been there done that.
totally enjoyed browsing your website.
continue travelling!! it’s the best thing a couple can do together.
Wow. It is really amazing that you have been able to travel to all of these places. you must have a really impressive income. I am hoping to travel just to a few of these places before I die. Mainly the “pyramid” time structures in: the yucatan, carribean, egypt, peru, and cambodia. Plus all the places in europe that i want to see. Thanks for putting up all of the photos and blogs. Very awesome and inspiring. Congrats on all your travels, and keep up the good work.

Hi, I just stumbled on your website while looking for something else (I have a 1995 ad for Horizons Exports in Kalia, Israel have you heard of them?). I haven’t had a chance to look at all of your pictures yet but what I’ve seen are just beautiful. I’ve been to Egypt and Jordan 2 times, Austria and Jamaica once, and Israel 4 times. I hope to make another trip to Israel this coming November and if I could I would live there part of the time. I just wanted to tell you what beautiful pictures you’ve taken and how blessed you are to be able to travel so much. May God watch over you in your travels! Be Blessed!!! Shalom!!!! Debra

Hi, Great Pictures of St. Lucia…My husband and I have been there and we loved it!! We loved it so much that we are planning to go back. We were wondering if we could use some of your great pictures for a presentation we will setting up to use.
Thanks so much!!

Greetings,
WOW is this a fabulous site- you guys are amazing! I found you while trying to figure out what the Muttrah Souk is and where it is! I travel to Las Palmas every year to teach there for a few weeks in the summer, and this year I am finally somehow going to make my trip to Morocco- a long time dream. Have you been there? Have only just begun to look at your site- will be enjoying it for some time to come i am sure!!! Cheers, Janice
What a wonderful find…your website is so informative (in an informal way) which is perfect for those of us (novice) travellers trying to decide where our next destination will be Thank you, Jo.
The video of Masada is really awe inspiring! Reading Josephus and Bible scripture and doing research has really help now with your photos and videos. Great Job, I hope to visit some of the biblical sites before the old system of things licks the dust. Thanks again.
I enjoyed your website. I study Geography in Bath, England and you 2 should come and give a talk sometime!
Macchu Picchu is a good highlight of Peru but when you get there don’t overlook other aspects such as the Colca Canyon and the rainforest region which even though its smaller than the Brazilian one is much more untamed.
I came by your website from Cactus Pipe National Monument page on Wikipedia. I am hoping to go there later this year.
My wife and I are going to Marrakech for 7 days in July. We are conflicted between choosing a relaxing trip split between Marrakech, Essouria, and a trip up into the Atlas or trying to make it out to the Erg Chebbi via dades valley and all that. I know there are very cheap tours that can get us through all of that in 3 days and two nights, but I am curious to know if you think this would be feasible via grand taxi on our own. It sounds like this is exactly what you did. Is haggling with the taxi drivers that difficult? We speak very fluent Spanish, but almost no French.
That’s a tough question. We really enjoyed the Dades valley and the dunes. Grand Taxi’s are possible – speaking French definitely helped, but I’m sure with gesturing and writing numbers down, it would be possible to do without. We found a lot of the buses run only at night (when it’s cooler, they don’t have A/C). Good luck and let us know how it goes!
it was too awesome and you might have studied lot to visit good places to show the entire world.
you spared lots of time and money and your precious time sharing with us in moments like pictures.
You two are living the life I had in mind before inflexible job and little kids gummed up the travel plans! (Wouldn’t trade any of it, but missed out on much of the travel I had in mind for “someday.”) Now that the kids are older, we take them everywhere, but haven’t gotten too adventurous – once to Europe and a few times to Mexico and various points in the U.S.. Headed for Cancun in November; found your site while fishing around for info on our destination. Keep up the awesome adventures, as long as you are able!! I concur with another writer: some of us will be able to vicariously enjoy your adventures couch-side. Happy trails,
Thanks so much. Have wanted to see the Haghia Sophia since my first art class at 16. And thanks on behalf of housebound elderly people all over the world.
Hello! Thank you for all your effort in putting your beautiful photos and videos online. You did a fabulous job and it blessed me tremendously as I’m traveling virtually with my parents’ itinerary while they are actually in Israel. Thanks again!
Merci pour cette belle visite de Petra. Votre joie et votre intérêt pour les voyages sont communicatifs. N’oubliez pas de venir aussi un jour à Bordeaux et au Pays-Basque!.
just watchin’ the Nature show on PBS tonite here on the USA’s east coast and put the “victoria falls” in the wikipedia & saw the link to your page ~ looks like you had a good filming @ the falls, keep up the good journeys & Peace!
Was wondering if during you’r many meanderings across this globe if you were interested in visiting my homeland of Scotland. Would b more than happy 2 help in any way possible ( excluding monetarily ….. well I am Scottish ) . The sight is fantastic and I hope it encourages more of the “younger” generation 2 get off their asses and explore this big blue ball. Well done! Brian.
Actually, we’ve both been to Scotland, it’s just not on the website. We’ve been to Edinburgh and Glasgow, and loved it. It was a really long time ago though, and we don’t have photos. We’ll have to go back someday! Thanks for the offer – much appreciated!
You’r welcome! The offer stands anyway ….. there’s far more to the UK and Scotland than just the citys (I know you know this) and it’s beauty is as exceptional as any other country I have been to (and thats a fair portion of the planet) I feel it would be a travesty if people as far-sighted and motivated as yourself’s didn’t take the time to explore the heights and depths of “my” land!
“May you’r winds be fair”…travel safely and forever!
I am an ex-army weapons trainer …. this required me 2 travel widely and at very short notice 2 any country required by “her majesty”! Did this 4 almost 7 years of my life! Now im a storeman in civilian life …. relaxing a lot more LOL!
My husband was born and raised in St. Lucia. I had the pleasure of visiting in 2007 and enjoyed myself mostly because I was surrounded by his family. But I agree that they are not that friendly truth is Puerto Rico was about the same, not so friendly. I think St. Lucia faces the issue of becoming a tourist country while still holding onto to it’s Island roots.
Hi Ian & Wendy
Your web site is very impressive, aha by the way I am from Oman, and I saw you photos in Oman, I am proud that an expert travelling people like you selected Oman to visit. How you knew about Oman? and why you decided visiting Oman? And when you visited Oman?
By the way I was one of the beach boyz soccer players you watched in Qurum beach – Muscat
Thank you! It’s wonderful to hear from you! That’s awesome that you’re one of the beach soccer players – what a small world!
We heard about Oman in National Geographic – they had an article about the Empty Quarter. We decided to go because the photos we saw made it look beautiful – and it is! We visited Oman around New Year’s 2007.
hi Ian and Wendy,
this is a really wonderful website and have really enjoyed looking through the photos and videos as a way to get an idea of different regions.

Hi Ian and Wendy,
Great info photos on Club Med Maldives. My wife and I will be spending our honeymoon there. I just hope it will be good as in the amenities. Also is there anything that that we would need to be aware of. Also I saw sharks/eels/stingsrays on your pics and you have stated they are very close to shore..Any Danger? Anyway thanks alot for your info.
Great site – and an inspiration to the rest of us ‘would be’ travelers who are too caught up with work. Heading for Tunisia this week and now have a much better idea of where to visit. Thanks, and happy trails.
Ian and Wendy, who knows where are you now?!?!?! first of all I wanted to congratulate you both for such an incredible and much appreciated idea of sharing you world-around adventures with people all around the globe. Im Nico from Southamerica – Uruguay.
I just catched your website surfing around looking at pics of Dubai. I’ve spent 3 months working in Dubai this year, from Jan until April and I have to say for me it was the greatest-fulfilling experience ever before.
Regarding one of your pictures with the modern buildings you have there the one in the middle, with the “ball” at the top is the Etisalat building, there’s one in each of the emirates representing the local phone-mobile company.
The one on the left is a Hotel which name I can’t remember and then you also have a thin building on the right, that one is a bank in Deira.
Looking forward to seeing Uruguay in your America’s drop down list soon! We are a little country with just 3 milion habitants but a lot of human warmth all around!
nico
Hi Ian and Wendy, your website is great! Thank you for sharing your photos. Noticed that you haven’t been to the Philippines yet… maybe someday you’ll visit my country… feel free to ask for info when you do eventually decide to see what we have to offer. I’m really amazed that you can both travel together, and still earn a living Makes me rethink what I want to do with my life.
Hi!! You do not have an idea the happy feelings that I have at this moment. I lived in Dominica during 10 years, the most wonderful time in my life and I still hope to comeback to my beautiful Island. We are from Costa Rica, you can ask the people about us, Karlos y Sylvia.
Comment by Sylvia Ma MEJIA — July 22, 2009 @ 7:06 pm
hey came across your blog; very helpful, however, one question? well maybe more…I’m traveling alone, and will be stayinng at The Sheraton Kauai in a luxury ocean front, ground floor, here’s the question, is it better to stay in front of the sandy beach area or away from it, I guess on the other side? Its building one or bulding two. I guess it splitting hairs but you’ve been there so you have an idea! Thanks
Hello! We would go for the room away from the sandy beach, since we’re pretty sure this is the area near the pool. There are definitely parties going on and it may be quite noisy. Also, we were ocean front but not near the beach and that put us close enough to the ocean that we could hear the waves from our room and also positioned us so that we got a great view of the sunset from our balcony. Enjoy!
Hey there,
A cool site you have. My current country count is 54 and I’m no taking a leave from work to make it a hundred. I’ll have a look around your site to new ideas.
I just returned from the most amazing week in Morocco after visiting all the cities you have on your site and more. I was adventures and deeply fulfilling. I have many of the same pictures but I was with locals and I had a wonderful experience. Thank you.
G’ Day Ian and Wendy and thanks a lot for the well written reports. We are gonna backpacking through Egypt the next 18 days. Your Reports are very interesting but we hope the “hassle” isn’t that much.
Wow! It’s my dream to travel as extensively as you guys. This is an incredible website! I love seeing new places, meeting new people, and learning new cultures. My family and I have been to Shanghai, Guilin, Gold Coast, Sydney, and Korea these past few years; I’ve been to California and Mexico when I was five. My dream is to go to Paris one fine day.
You made a comment, regarding diatomaceous earth, and the difficulty of finding it. You can get huge bags at pool supply places, like Leslies. It’s cheap and effective for keeping ants and other crawlie things out of your house. It’s also good for carpets, if your animals bring home fleas from the boarding visit, like mine did.
(I live in Santa Rosa also)
Your site is by far the best I’ve ever seen. I expect to return to it often now that I found it. Of course, the photos are excellent but, just as importantly, you are the best at specifically labeling your pictures. I’ve even found some references to shots which I was missing on my own (even though I am compulsive about keeping a record as I travel). Un fortunately, I do not seem to have the label you asked about in your India album but I’ll let you know if I find it.

Stumbled upon your site through Wikipedia…must say I love it…reminds me of my Semester at Sea Voyage some years ago. I was able to go to Cuba, Brazil, South America, Mauritius, India, Vietnam, Singapore, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Japan in the course of 3 months while in college. If it weren’t for that experience, I don’t know if I would’ve ever gotten the chance to explore beyond the Americas. I really do admire your “get the plane tickets and go” mentality, I could use a little more of that as well as a travel buddy, lol.
Wow love the pictures of St. Martin. I am considering going to Marigot this summer with an elderly friend. She wants to stay in the middle of the action but likes the finer things in life. Recommend any hotels there?
Hi,

Congratulations on your new baby daughter! I’m so happy to see that you’re still travelling!! We have always loved travelling, and are determined to do as much of it now that we’re parents as we did when it was just the 2 of us! We’ve just got back from a 2 week ‘road trip’ (once we’d flown to the US from London) round New England – we had an amazing time and our 2 year old daughter loved every second of it!
hi guys
we have lot in common, my wife and I have travelled to all the continents except south america ,
we love travelling, and i love africa , you should visit tanzania , kenya – serengetti , manyara, ngorongoro crater and the oldvai gorge are simply awesome , dont miss the migration twice a year from kenya to tanzania and vice versa,
i looked up your website , havent read propoerly but will ,
i was looking up on israel and chanced upon your blog,

Loved looking at your website – trying to decide whether to stay in Dominica when we visit Martinique – main thing that seems to be tricky as you point out is arranging the ferry. Looks worth it though!
We will be visiting Maldives Kani soon. Can you recommend how much is advisable for spending money e.g. excursions etc. Can one take dollars in cash etc.
Your website is awesome. I am getting married next year and we want to go to Danmark and Norway (we have both been back home many times, most of our families are there) but I am trying to find a way to book a layover of 3-4days in Iceland on the way there. Any suggestions? Need to spend some time looking at your pictures now.
Came by your site looking for pic’s of Cappidocia, Turkey. We just returned in June 2009 from a great honeymoon in Greece and Turkey, but unfortunately we did not get to Cappidocia. Wonder site, great photos, We love to travel also, and an African safari is next on the list. We are from Red Deer, Alberta, 1 hour away fro the beautiful Canadian Rockies.
Thanks for stirring the travel bug in me again.
Wendy

Wow, great site Ian and Wendy! I came upon it by googling “Club Med, Maldives.” That’s my current fantasy trip – sigh! I liked your photos of it – they gave me the feeling of a little trip there!
If you go back to India may I propose another tropical island paradise? Agatti Island in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep. It’s off the West Coast of India and somewhat similar to the Maldives. I went there for my honeymoon and had a wonderful time. We flew from Kochi (which is also a fascinating place). Only thing is, most Westerners go to Bangaram Island, thinking that Agatti is off limits for them. It isn’t! More fun to hang out with Indians, anyway!
I found your website searching things about Thailand!!! You have visited so many countries!!!! Me and my husband also love to travel!!!
Our trip to Thailand will be next March, can i ask you about your travel to Thailand?
We are planning to go about 4 days to Bangkok, about 4 days to Chiang Mai e about a week to Phuket/PhiPhi. Between Bangkok and Chaing Mai we are planning to visit Ayathaya or Sukhothai. They seeme similar, so we are planning visiting only one place. We have seen your photos but even then i can’t decide what we shoud go, can you help us? Is it a full day enought to visit one of these old cities?
What can you tell more? We are plannig to stay at hostels in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. In Chiang Mai, so that we can spare time, we are plannig to make organized tours with travel agencies, so that we can visit also Chiang Rai and Mae Hong Son …
You are a very beautiful couple and you’ve taken very lovely pictures. Thank you for sharing them, I can now add Akko to the list of places I wish to visit myself.

Hi Ian & Wendy
I would like to thank youand also seek your permission to use the embed code for your videos in st. Lucia. I did not have a video camera with me and would love to share the scenes which you took with my friends in England and Mauritius. I would be quite pleased for you to join friendsofmauritius and include a link to your site. I am going to mass tomorrow Christmas day in Gros Islet and have already been for a drive and noticed the places mentioned on the videos.
Thanks for the email! Please go ahead and use the embed code for the videos, and thanks for asking. We’ll look into joining the friendsofmauritius website. We’re glad you enjoyed our videos.
Thank you for your site, it is very informative. If you will be able to come to us in Russia, you will see themselves and be able to tell others what this amazing country. Happy New Year!
My husband and I are avid travellers too. We are off to Israel next week. I have not been to Asia yet but it is in the works. I would like to tell you that of all the places I have been in the world, Macchu Picchu and Peru were spectacular.
India is next in line. We are South African and so we have been to Botswana, Zimbabwe and on Safari. Very Special.
Good luck to you both.
My husband is going with friends for his 50th next year to Vietnam on small motorcycles. I am going on a walking pilgrimage across Italy in August instead.
Lovely, lovely, site – thanks for sharing..

Thanks, Michelle! We’re glad you enjoyed the site. Machu Pichu is DEFINITELY on our list – someday! Enjoy your travels – it sounds like you have exciting plans!
Happy New Year I love your site. Greetings from Kuala Lumpur. I have been wishing to go to visit Halong Bay ever since I saw the movie Indochine. What would you recommend to do in Vietnam? Did you guys face any language barrier?
My parents were avid travellers too and I dream of following in their footsteps. Thank you for sharing your lovely pictures and travel experiences. Happy travelling.
thanks for all the info you had added. we are planning to go to China and India next May. So the pictures are very useful for our plans.
We are from Mexico, so If you want to continue traveling you are very welcome to visit. We could recommend a lot of places; we went a couple of weeks ago to La Huasteca POtosona, Ciudad Valles and it was amazing, if you have a chance start your plans, you will love it.
What this weary old world needs is to have governments, worldwide, work towards a state of affairs wherein we can’t see the carbon for the trees. Best wishes to Ian and Wendy from Colin Hugh Abbott in wonderful Western Australia.

Hi I came upon your website as i am planning a vacation christmas 2010. i will be travelling with my husband and 3 teenagers from Calgary.
We will fly into St Lucia stay 6 nights , then onto Martinique(thanks for you information regarding the airlines versus the ferry). i hope to stay in Martinique for 3 days and then go to dominica for 3 nights before returning home. Thanks for your information about martinique as i am finding information hard to come by.
Thanks so much for posting your pics from your trip to Tahiti. My husband and I are thinking about going to Tahiti, and staying at Club Med Bora Bora.
I’m a bit leary about it- as I’m not finding enough on it to make a smart decision. We are on a budget so we are looking for something “all inclusive”, and this place seems to be it.
I’d like to be able to ask you more questions if you wouldn’t mind.
Thanks- Anna

lots of nice pictures and info on your travels here. Sadly the experience of visiting our site has been degraded with the sheer amount of ads, paid links.
Thanks for the comment – we appreciate all feedback, good and bad! We are sorry that the ads interfered with your enjoyment of our site, however, they help to pay some of our travel bills.
HI Wendy and Ian
We met on the Cook Straight Ferry, NZ- I have a new appreciation for child friendly areas. Your website is great and I will keep coming back to have a look at all your travels. Hope it is all going well in NZ.

PS when you went to Tunisia did you have any problem with beach ball theft from your room? been reading a lot about it on tripadvisor, hear it’s common. PS Do camels spit at you or is that Leemas?
It was really nice to see n know about yourselves…We at “OMAN” welcome good human beings like you to be our guests….we are sure you’ll like our country more than any other….With god’s grace we have the sea,the mountain, the desert & the greenary….all god could gift any country…..

Looking forward to meet you soon in “OMAN”…
In case you have already visited “OMAN”…give us a second chance to make your trip a memory of life time….
This is a beautiful looking website, in particular loved the Botswana pics. An African safari is my most longed-for travel adventure at the moment. I’m in the process of setting up a far more (far, far more!) lo-fi version of this type of travel site just as somewhere to store my travel blogs initially but would also like to link with other like-minded sites. Check it out @ http://www.deliciouswhisper.blogspot.com. OK to put your link on there?
Keep up the good work guys, I’ll be sure to check in regularly. Where’s the next trip to?
I was missing Oman…I had a wild, true love affair that took me there many times as my boyfriend was raised there. We are now on different paths. Thank you for your pictures…they made me feel better.

You’ll have to let us know how it
is.
Happy Travels!

Sanjeev,
Don’t worry about inconveniencing us!
Happy Travels and let us know if you have any other questions,
Ian and Wendy

P.S. Keep up the great website!

Hello Ian and Wendy.
Warmest Regard,
Qamarul

Hello Qamarul,
Thanks for taking the time to write to us!

Ian & Wendy,
I was searching for picture of ChongQing, China, and came across your website.

Ian replied on May 4th, 2008 6:07 pm:
Yeah, it’s too bad they dismantled all the rides – apparently they plan to re-build. We were only in Brunei for just a couple of days on our way out of Borneo.

This is a very nice web site, I like the idea. I think you should have visited Mount Nemrut in Turkey, which is a fabulous place with huge ancient statues up the hill. I would like to visit Singapore, Morocco, Dubai and China and I will definitely read your blogs before I go

Hello Ayse,
Thank you for your kind words – we’re glad you’re enjoying our site!

Thanks for considering my request.

wonderful shots of Lyon. My 11 yr old son just arrived there with his 6th grade class. I noticed the picture of the electronics store and was wondering if there was a way to get in ipod charger to him. Would you recommend sending one through the apple website or through the store fnac, if they have it?

Hey guys!
Thanks!
Claude

Wendy replied on June 6th, 2008 6:41 am:
Hi Claude,
Well, we really can’t agree.
Bon Voyage, et Bonne Chance!

Your photos are fantastic! I am a Canadian teacher and would like to show my students your slide shows for our ancient civilizations unit. It is difficult to read the comments you have included, is there any way to see the slideshow in full screen mode?
[Reply]
Ian replied on June 1st, 2008 2:38 pm:
Hello,
The easiest way to that is to click on the “dial-up? click here” and then click on the slideshow you want to see.

Hi Ian,
That’s too bad, especially since all the ones I mentioned are close
to each other, or at least in pairs, only the west coast of Turkey
is full of historical stuff.
You two have a great time and much fun exploring!

Hello Ian and Wendy,
I live in the eastern part of the country, almost on the German border, and if you go to the Netherlands, i don’t think you’ll go there.
Although many places in Europe are also very nice, and i’ve been to many spots in italy, france, germany, switzerland ans austria. Strange as it seems, i haven’t been to many places in the Netherlands, i always go abroad when going on holiday!
I hope you go to the Netherlands (better known as Holland) and get some nice pics there
Happily, i’m still quite young, and i still have much time to travel around the world
and i know that you’ve been to the best places on the earth, Elba (an island on the western coast of italy) is also very beautiful and worthy to visit!
Keep going on traveling, and i’d like to hear something from you!

Jolien

Great to see a ‘real’ travel blog, especially one that includes a visit to my country Oman. Our tourism industry is still in it’s early days and certainly isnt as professional as the UAE, however, I hope the warmth of the people, the authenticity of the culture and the natural beauty of Oman made up for any shortcomings. Hope you have many more years of happy travelling and if you are ever in the region again, I would be delighted to show you the local’s perspective!

Hi,
I enjoyed reading through you website, especially the info about Botswana and the Okavango Delta.
Best regards, Steve Allen

Thanks so much.
Nancy

Hi Nancy,
Thanks for the comment. Some companies insist on wire transfers, and some will insist on picking you up the airport. Salah Muhammad can be reached from his website,
http://first24hours.com/contactus.aspx
Do NOT USE HAMIS TRAVEL. They ripped us off.
There are also Western-based tour companies. For recent recommendations, I would suggest picking up a recent Lonely Planet or Frommer’s or Let’s Go. Of course, they steered us towards Hamis, so who knows.

Hi there.
Regards.

Kaia

Hello,
I found your website while searching info about Noga Tours, part of your Egypt trip looks like the one I will be doing with Noga Tours in Feb, but I had some reservation at the way it is booked. We were asked to give money on arrival , in cash. And found it quite odd.
Did you take part of your Cairo/Nile cruise visit with Noga Tours?
if not , thanks all the same, looking at your pictures made me want this trip even more.
[Reply]
Ian replied on January 22nd, 2009 8:14 am:
Good luck,
Ian

Ian and Wendy,
Your site is amazing. I really envy you guys.
I appreciate any tips you could give us.
Thanks!

Ian replied on May 1st, 2009 10:40 am:
Hi Ben,
That’s a tough question.

But I agree that they are not that friendly truth is Puerto Rico was about the same, not so friendly. I think St. Lucia faces the issue of becoming a tourist country while still holding onto to it’s Island roots.

Noticed that you haven’t been to the Philippines yet… maybe someday you’ll visit my country… feel free to ask for info when you do eventually decide to see what we have to offer. I’m really amazed that you can both travel together, and still earn a living
Makes me rethink what I want to do with my life.

hey came across your blog; very helpful, however, one question? well maybe more…I’m traveling alone, and will be stayinng at The Sheraton Kauai in a luxury ocean front, ground floor, here’s the question, is it better to stay in front of the sandy beach area or away from it, I guess on the other side? Its building one or bulding two. I guess it splitting hairs but you’ve been there so you have an idea! Thanks

Wendy replied on July 28th, 2009 8:17 am:
Enjoy!

Hi Ian and Wendy,
How did you guys find my country, Malaysia?
Greetings from KL,

Thanks for this!

Happy travels!

Hello Ian and Wendy!
Thank you

My husband and I are avid travellers too. We are off to Israel next week. I have not been to Asia yet but it is in the works. I would like to tell you that of all the places I have been in the world, Macchu Picchu and Peru were spectacular.
India is next in line. We are South African and so we have been to Botswana, Zimbabwe and on Safari. Very Special.
Good luck to you both.

I’m a bit leary about it- as I’m not finding enough on it to make a smart decision. We are on a budget so we are looking for something “all inclusive”, and this place seems to be it.
I’d like to be able to ask you more questions if you wouldn’t mind.
