Windmill at Riverdale Farm
Windmill at Riverdale Farm
I recently traveled to Toronto with our then 7-month-old.  We were lucky enough to have great weather which made for the perfect day to visit this outdoor Toronto favorite.  Riverdale Farm is a farm – right in downtown Toronto!  Located at  201 Winchester Street in the heart of the city’s Cabbagetown district.

The farm offers a great chance to see farm animals up close in the middle of the city.  Our daughter had a great time taking in the chickens, ducks, horses, goats, sheep and more!  The setting is park-like and in fact there is a small park with lots of trees and picnic tables right next door.

The animals are all fenced in and the fences are fairly high.  I found having her in the Ergo made it much easier for her to see.  In a stroller she would have had to try to look through the slats on the fence.

The farm isn’t that spread out, or that big either – an hour should give you a chance to see all the animals.  Of course, some children may want to stay for much longer and some less time!

There are different activities that happen at the farm, especially in the warmer months.  You can check their website for updated info: http://www.toronto.ca/parks/riverdalefarm.htm.  But the best part of Riverdale Farm?  It’s FREE!  That’s right!  Open 365 days a year and there is absolutely no admission charge!
