New Siam Guest House and New Siam Guest House 2

The cab dropped us right off at the hotel we had reserved a few nights before which we had found from our trusty Let’s Go guide book. Anyways, we are told the hotel was full (despite the credit card reservation), but there is another hotel they will take us to. Uh oh, here we go, we’re thinking.. but the 5 minute walk actually WAS a 5 minute walk and took us to…

New Siam Guest House 2
The hotel was very clean, and had all the services a backpacker could dream of – cheap laundry, internet, travel agency, little restaurant, etc.  It’s quiet, and is just on the fringes of Khaosan Road district. A room with AC and private shower cost us $12US a night. The shower was hot (using an inline heater), but the toilets (as everywhere in Thailand) can’t take TP, so there’s a little bin there for it, but when they forgot to clean our room… well let’s just say it wasn’t pleasant ;)  Most Thais use a little shower thing attached to the wall to clean themselves, so the bin isn’t even an issue.

All in all it was a fabulous hotel.  Very well located, clean, cheap, quiet, plenty of hot water – what more could you ask for?
