171 On High hotel
171 On High hotel
This hotel was a bit of a splurge for us, at $110 USD per night. We called around a lot of the cheaper options, and many of them either didn’t have a private room, or did not allow children in the rooms. That was the only time that happened to us in New Zealand.

The hotel is located just outside of downtown (about a 5 minute walk). It looked like an American motel, with two floors and stairs up to the second floor. The room itself was beautiful, with a full kitchen, and living room. The owner even lent us a spotless high chair so we could easily feed our baby. The bed was very comfortable. We were charged for wifi according to usage, but it ended up being a reasonable price.

The owner of the hotel gave us great tips on what wineries to go to, and gave us a map of the area. She helped us use the laundry machines in the hotel, which were not expensive and gave us a welcome break from washing our clothes  by hand.
