Mahi Winery, Marlborough, New Zealand
Mahi Winery’s bright, modern tasting room/cellar door is open for tasting from 10.00am to 4.30pm, seven days a week.

We tasted:

2008 Sauvignon Blanc – Made with a blend of wine from seven different vineyards, all in the Marlborough region.  Nice, but not great.

2008 The Alias – Much nicer than the Sauvignon Blanc, this wine had a clean finish and was nice and fruity.

2008 Twin Valleys Chardonnay – The finish had quite a bite.

2008 Gewürztraminer – Very fruity, but sadly the finish was not clean.  Quite sweet.

The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and eager to talk about the wine.

Is there anything that beats a day of touring cellar door tastings? We used to do a lot of that in the Yarra Valley when we lived in Melbourne.
