Patagonia Chocolates

Outside Patagonia Chocolates, Queenstown - home to great, innovative ice cream.
We stumbled on Patagonia Chocolates as we were exploring the harbor in Queenstown.  It was a beautiful warm, sunny day and the sign said “ice cream” – so who were we to argue?  The line-up was a promising sign and the generous servings of 30 flavors of ice cream were too tempting to pass on, so we sampled a few.

They have innovative flavors like Patagonia Chocolate with Macadamia Nuts, White Chocolate with Hazelnuts, Banana Split (which we particularly recommend) and Fig and Pistachio.  They also have many different kinds of sorbet.  Served in a lightly sweet waffle cone, a single scoop was $5.50NZD, 2 scoops were $7.50NZD.  It was definitely a delicious treat!

As you might expect from their name, they also produce chocolate.  All their chocolate bars are handmade, and hand cut by knife.  They offer lots of interesting flavors – from figs to apricots to chili.  Sadly we were too full from the ice cream to sample their chocolate.  If you have the chance – let us know how it was!
