We arrived at the bus station in Gyeongju this morning, and immediately went to the excellent tourist info booth. They’re all over and always seem to have at least one person who speaks English. They were fabulously well organized and very helpful as usual. They called and made a reservation for us and gave us a map and great directions to our hotel. I’ll give a description in another entry, but it’s great.
As soon as we’d checked in we headed out to see the Bulguksa Temple. It’s about a half-hour outside the city by bus, and has a beautiful series of courtyards and buildings with different Buddhas in them. Everything is spotless and well organized. We spent a good hour and a half there, soaking in all the beautiful carvings and paintings. Then we headed to the Seokguram Grotto.
