>> Andong Folk Village, South Korea
Transportation in Korea is very easy. There are lots of buses to go anywhere, and they are clean, with lots of rest stops, and run exactly on time.
We visited the Andong Folk Village in the morning. It's about a 10 minute bus ride outside Andong itself. Wood statues outside the Andong Folk Village
The prettiest part of the Andong Folk Village was actually it's entrance. This recreated section is actually used to film a lot of Korean soap operas.
From the base, it was a very long, sweaty hike up to see the various buildings in the village.
Water wheel close to the base
There was no explanation for what we were seeing, and it seemed a lot of the buildings were recent constructions (in fact, we could see they were still doing a lot of building)
We felt sort of awkward wandering around by ourselves, but after we'd climbed all the way up, we were determined to see what we could.
This is a cemetary, up on the hill. We saw these everywhere as we travelled the country.
Shortly after this, we sort of gave up. It wasn't that interesting, and it was very, very hot
Next we vvisited the Andong Museum, right next to the village. This was much more interesting.
Lots of signs in English, lots of dioramas, and only $2 to get in!
Reconstruction of the original buildings
The museum explained a lot about early Korean life
Funeral Carrier
Lots of great explanations in English.
